- Hello,
-
- >> Could anyone tell me if there is any program available on
- the Amiga that can/will extract digital audio from the IDE
- Toshiba XM-5302B CD-Rom drive (rev 1095).
- This CD-Rom drive is installed in an A4000 using IDE-fix
- (v105.2) & 4x IDE Adapter, with on the first cable 2 IDE
- harddisks and on the other cable the CD-Rom drive (as
- master).

- Yes, it is possible - in theory. If the authors of CDDA reader
- programs for the Amiga would be so kind to include an "ATAPI"
- option, this should work with some drives.
- You must know, that in SCSI-II CDDA reading was not defined, so
- every manufacturer used vendor unique commands. With ATAPI, there
- is a defined command to do so. (0xBE). This packet can be send to
- atapi.device with a simple HD_SCSICMD.
- The ATAPI documentation (SFF-8020i) should be available from
- various BBS boards for review.
- Beware, not all ATAPI drives support this!!!! I have NO idea which
- do, and if the Toshiba drive does.
